Did you know that the BBQ Box review I do here is a product from Myron Mixon? If you have ever watched a show about the competition BBQ on TV you probably have heard his name since he is one of the names with the most wins in competitions.

As an alternative, you can have a look at my opinion of the Southside meat market.

You know after you have seen him that he knows his BBQ and knows what he is talking about and although he likes to make money from his products I think the Myron Mixon recipes BBQ Box (1) is reasonably priced.

What is the BBQ-Box?

This box is a monthly BBQ subscription box that is, at the moment of my writing this, $24.99 + shipping a month or cheaper for longer subscriptions and that is not too much if you consider what is in the box.

Prices and Subscription options

You can subscribe for a month-by-month or longer subscription period and save some money.

Payment is made in advance for the period so for the year you would have to fork out $275.88 + shipping cost. The shipping cost is depending on where you live.

  • Month to month – $24.99
  • 3 months – $23.99 a month
  • 6 months – $23.49 a month
  • 12 months – $22.99 a month

What is in the Box?

It is not possible to see ahead of time what will come in your BBQ box but it will contain the following items.

  • A marinade or sauce
  • A spice or rub
  • One edible item like a snack or jerky.
  • Premium wood chips for the smoker
  • Recipe on how to use the items in the box

When you order your box you also have the option to have it sent as a gift. I like this extra option.

A video can explain it better than I can.

What is not in the box

Compared to some of the meat boxes on this page I have to mention that this box does not contain any meat.

All you get are the rubs, seasoning, recipe, and a snack. This means you still have to buy or order your meat.

Welcome Box

Did you ever get a present before you even got what you ordered? BBQ-Box does exactly that. Before you receive your first box you will receive the BBQ-BOX Welcome Box.

I could not find out what is in the welcome box just that it is the same box for everyone and that it is to cook pork and a recipe for Boston Butt.

If I have to guess it probably comes with Myron Mixon’s rub, a sauce, maybe Jerky, and some wood chips. But don’t quote me on that.

Let’s see if I am right. I found a video with someone unboxing the welcome box.

I guess I was close with my guessing. You will receive your welcome box first and after that, you will receive the box you ordered the following month.

What to expect after that?

This depends on what time you place your order. If you sign up before 11.59 Eastern time on the 24th your box will be shipped by the end of the month.

Signing up after that date means your shipment will be done the following month.

Can you cancel?

Yes, you can cancel at any time. All you do is log in to your account and go to “your subscription” and click on that. When you click on the “edit” ‘button you can find the button to cancel.

Skip a month is one of the other options that you can choose from if you just need to skip a month for any reason.

What I like about the BBQ-Box

I like the fact that every month you will have a surprise and you never know what to expect. I also like that it is coming from a very experienced grillmaster that has earned his stripes by not talking but by winning competitions.

I think that the price is a little steep for what you get and that there is a shipping fee after you order the BBQ Box. if you, however, go to the store and buy just the ingredients that you get in the box you probably pay more. And here you get a recipe every month.

BBQ BOX Review – My Opinion

I have read a ton of reviews from people who have or a still using the Myron Mixon BBQ-Box.

Basically, when it comes to Myron Mixon there are 2 camps. Some people like him and other people think he is too arrogant.

You can, however, not deny that the man knows his BBQ. You don’t win all these prices if you don’t know how to cook some great-tasting meat.

The content of the box is a little high in price. If you will get the content from the store you would probably save some money. You can argue that the professional recipe will make up the difference.

I think this box is great for beginning pitmasters that have not yet built up a lot of recipes and experience. This box can help you get at least 12 of these in a year’s time and the time to develop experience with the tips in the recipes.
